Over the past few years, the scales have been tilted as a result of corporate and legislative greed, and the need for
"status" among our peers. Insurance company executives are paid million dollar salaries based on company profits,
defense attorney's paid to defend their actions more than the decisions they make; medical/legal mill doctors are more
willing to prostitute their credentials and reputations in order to write "proper" medical reviews, and private
investigators are willing to ignore, forget, alter and forge information to provide "positive results" for their clients.
It's about time that the radio and television media stopped perceiving injured workers as the criminals in this equation
simply because it makes a better video byte. It's about time that they do a little bit of research next time they get a
press release from the Governor or insurance industry lobbyists blaming all the Workers' Compensation problems on the
injured worker. It's simply not true!
But then they want you to buy into their bullshit or it wouldn't be on TV would it?
It's about time that they started telling the truth for a change, even if it hurts!
No less important, but certainly with more impact, lobbyists for the insurance industry travel in an altogether different
circle, a circle that is isolated from the rest of us, the congressional, legislative and judicial arenas. Here we have
a group of individuals who operate behind the scenes, and in ways we only talk about, but will do little to change.
Simply said, "you get what and whom you pay for", and the amount of money spent at this level is to influence, convince,
or entice the actions and opinions of our legislative representatives. These are the protectors of the very system we
depend upon to protect us from the abuses we claim to suffer at the hands of these vicious predators.
Look around and listen to others as they complain about the "system". You will hear people talking about companies in
general, but rarely do you hear the complaints regarding an individual by name. The "system" is not to blame; all
systems are flawed in one way or another; "rules are made to be broken", and defense attorneys are there to defend the
insurers when they break them.
The integrity of any "system" is only equal to the level of integrity of those who operate within it. If there is no
personal integrity, then there will be no integrity in the system itself.
This is a vicious circle of corruption that needs to be exposed in order to be broken. This all revolves around money;
from the corporate greed of the insurance industry, the cost containment practices of a third party administrator, the
burned out and/or unethical, but almost always unqualified medical professional, unscrupulous defense attorneys, and
unethical private investigators.
This circle of people all feed from the same trough, the public. The high cost of premiums more accurately refers to the
money it takes run a profitable business. This ensures the feeding trough has a continuing supply for all to feed from,
in an attempt to avoid paying claims, legitimate or not, as a form of job security.
So-called injured worker advocates in this state won't even admit to or acknowledge that the above described behavior
even exists. They're afraid of rocking the so-called political boat. But as California injured workers, we suffer the
humiliation and degradation at the hands of vicious insurance industry sociopaths.
Why support them when all they do is pussyfoot around with our state legislators. It simply doesn't work. They don't
learn from experience. They are all about money and power. They want the POWER and they want to get it with YOUR money! Don't get sucked into their money trap!
It's time to take the system back and let them know that working Californians are sick and tired of putting up with
their crap. We're not afraid to say it and we're certainly doing something about it! If you feel the same as we do, then
you should be a member of Californians Injured At Work. It's time to stop this wholesale fraud.
