Many have asked why the regulatory powers of the state are not being utilized to rope these scofflaws into compliance. The answer to that question is simple. As California Insurance Commissioner John Garamendi said on National Public Radio on May 4, 2004:
The insurance industry has twisted and convoluted what was supposed to be a system to help the occupationally injured return to work, and turned it into a bastardized multi-billion dollar money machine that wreaks it's carnage on the occupationally disabled of California by delaying and denying treatment and compensation to the thousands of injured workers that are hurt every year, many due to the negligence of their employers. Now we have insurance company claims examiners practicing medicine without a license. How much longer is this nonsense going to go on? This is how Arnold Schwarzenegger has reformed the Workers Compensation system in California... Some so-called injured worker advocates are trying to influence our legislators to make changes that will help and benefit injured workers. But these legislators are the very reason that we are in this sorry mess in the first place. Just look how many of them totally ignore their obligations to their constituents, the very people that believed their election promises. They have allowed themselves to be intimidated and threatened by Governor Moneybags. No one in state government is accountable for the criminal acts that are perpetrated upon California's occupationally injured by the insurance industry. They have free rein to commit the most heinous of crimes, to maim and murder, and hide under the umbrella of what is known as "The Exclusive Remedy!" With this television program, we intend to bring the truth to the people of California so that at some point in the future, we may effect a reform to this system that remains broken and ineffective.
Our goal is threefold: to EDUCATE, to INFORM and to EMPOWER you to take control of your life and not let some ruthless corporate predator take control of it for you!
This television program was created to give California's injured workers the media exposure that the mainstream radio & television stations in our state seem not to want to afford them and to expose the fraud and corruption that has placed injured workers, their treatment providers and their attorneys in a virtual stranglehold.
