We are an educational organization. We HELP injured workers. We are advocates for the occupationally disabled. We go to bat for those falsely accused of Workers Compensation fraud by insurance carriers and county district attorneys eager to obtain fraud fighting money from the state Fraud Assessment Commission by any means possible.
Our primary goal is to educate, inform and empower injured workers around this country to better understand how to navigate thru the ever complicated Workers Compensation systems and not become victims of overzealous insurance carriers and their investigators. One way we accomplish this is through ciaw.org, a full-featured website, not some glorified blog that others try to pass off. This is a very important information resource for injured workers!
Who are our members? Our membership consists of injured workers, doctors, treaters, interpreters, investigators, attorneys, and even a few insurance claims examiners, (the good ones who give you the resepct and dignity that you deserve, and are) committed to "protecting the rights and dignity of injured workers" all across America. Many of these attorneys are in the trenches attending workers' compensation hearings on a daily basis. They know first-hand the obstacles and troubles facing injured workers. Others are those who want to see a real reform come to the California Workers Compensation system and others around this great country of ours, and bring back some form of fairness and equity to this benefits delivery system.
One of our secondary goals is to stop the proliferation of insurer and employer fraud. This White Collar fraud is a primary reason that our Workers Compensation system is so dysfunctional, with insurance carriers hiding behind the "Exclusive Remedy" provisions of the California Labor Code to shield them from legal liability for their criminal acts, post injury!
This is the 21st century and injured workers need to use 21st century technology and tactics to get their voice heard.
We own and control our own internet infrastructure and maintain our own servers. We are beholding to no one! Our Information Systems personnel oversee an innovative technologically advanced client/server computer system that enables us to track, report, and use a myriad of complex data on a daily basis. Our Information Systems personnel service Californians Injured At Work and allow us to be able to adapt to change quickly. They are also responsible for all computer and data processing needs and requirements involving a broad range of activities.
We produce the Injured On The Job television program distributed to Community and Public Access television stations around the State of California. It's goal is to is to educate, inform and empower injured workers around the state to better understand how to navigate thru the California Workers Compensation system.
We produce Custom Video Programming made specifically for the web and stream it via our servers and You Tube. We also create informational DVD's to educate, inform and empower injured workers and others. We have access to "state of the art" digital video production facilities in San Francisco and Sacramento.
We are NOT a political organization. Political organizations are simply about money and power, plain & simple. They want your money and then they have the power, not you! America has too many political organizations as it is. That's part of the problem.
As an example, let's look at Voters Injured At Work (no connection to us), a political organization spawned and financed by the California Applicant's Attorneys Association. All the time and effort that has gone into introducing meaningful legislation and passing such legislation in both the Assembly and Senate twice, has been for naught! Without the required percentage of votes to override the governor's veto, where are they; simply back at square one! If the governor and the legislators don't have the conscience to fix it, nothing will happen. It will stay broken.
We used to be known as the California Injured Workers Coaliton, one of the oldest and largest injured worker advocacy organizations in California.
We do not require fee based membership for our help, but will gladly accept any contributions that recipients of our help and assistance may offer. We are a [501(c)(3) status pending,] charitable non-profit corporation.
How do I join? That's a very easy task. Simply, click on the "How To Join" button on the navigation bar at the top of the page or go to the "How To Join" page, and fill out the form as best you can. Remember your phone number is very important or we can't reach you. As per the bylaws of our non-profit corporation, successful submission makes you a member. We don't charge a yearly fee to belong as others do, but we certainly won't say NO to anyone wishing to donate to CIAW or the "Injured On The Job" TV show.
Our future goal is to place on the California ballot, "The Injured Workers Bill Of Rights", a ballot measure to bring fairness and equity back to a system that was designed to help occupationally injured workers during their time of need; a system now that is controlled by a corrupt and out of control insurance industry that has our state legislators pimping and pandering influence for their political contributions.
Help us help injured workers all over our state and bring some fairness and equity back to the Workers Compensation system.
