Injured On The Job host and Californians Injured At Work director Sam Gold & Injured On The Job host and labor activist Steve Zeltzer were once again the lead off guests on the John Rothmann show on KGO Newstalk Radio 810AM on Sunday morning, September 10th 2006 during 1:00AM to 2:00AM hour.
KGO Radio is the Citidel owned #1 Neilsen rated 50,000 watt clear-channel Newstalk AM station in San Francisco that can be heard all over the Western United States in the night & evenings.
This time around, they brought with them former City of Atherton Police Dispatcher and injured worker Anita Blick who was literally railroaded by the Town of Atherton, their insurer Cities Group, and San Mateo County District Attorney Jim Fox, into a conviction of Workers Compensation fraud. Mrs. Blick was sentenced to 90 days in San Mateo County jail, in solitary confinement, time served earlier this year.
It would appear that the United States Constitution and all it's protections were suspended the minute that she walked into that courtroom. The case is on appeal and is expected to be overturned due to the plethora of errors committed by the judge who has been mysteriously retired from the bench. I wonder why?
At approximately 1:43AM, Injured On The Job producer and co-host, and director of Californians Injured At Work, Sam Gold issued an on-the-air challenge to Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to come on the Injured On The Job television show before the election and tell Californians how his Workers Compensation reform bill of 2004 (SB899) has made a positive difference to as he calls them "truly injured workers."
At the end of the hour, Gold broke into a bit of theatrics by suggesting that the governor not be as he so commonly calls others, a "Girlie Man" and have the guts to defend his reform.
Sam also issued the same challenge to Democratic gubernatorial candidate Phil Angelides and the other gubernatorial candidates, to come on the Injured On The Job television show and tell Californians how he plans to fix the perpetually broken Workers Compensation system if the voters elect him as their new chief executive.
Needless to say, neither of the candidates had the kahones to take him up on his offer and defend their position on this very important issue.
Gold was very passionate about the fact that he feels that the people of California have a right to know where these candidates stand on such an important issue that is galvanizing the election.
Neither candidate seems to realize that injured workers, their families and applicants attorneys and their families, are a significant voting block and certainly should be reckoned with.
Although his show takes place in the wee hours of the morning, John Rothmann has an unbelieveably large, loyal and energetic audience who really like to get involved.
Californians Injured At Work and it's members look forward to having the opportunity to again speak with injured workers from around the state via KGO Radio and thank them and John Rothmann for giving injured workers the on-the-air forum on such a high profile radio station to make these issues known. If you missed the program, here is the audio track in it's entirety.
